Re-Starting Your Business After COVID-19

We have reached a full re-opening of everything in Alberta, but while we are all looking forward to getting back to normal, things are not going to be the same as they were. Your business is not going to be exactly the same after re-opening as it was before the Covid shutdowns—you, your employees, and your customers may all need to make some adaptations. This article has a nice overview of what to consider for re-opening
Ahoy, Matey! The Ship’s Changing Direction!
Your business might have made some large changes in direction during the Covid shutdown to stay afloat—you also might have found that the new directions your business took were really successful, and you’d like to make them a permanent part of your business plan (or even expanding them). You might also have taken a large financial hit over the last 18 months; now would be an excellent time to do a brand new business plan that takes new circumstances into account and helps you figure out your financial situation.
All Zoom! All the Time!
You might also have found that some of the ways you were doing business were outdated and inefficient, and you’d like to keep up your new habits—for example, you might have found that most of your employees can work from home, and you don’t need as large a rental space as you thought. You might need to look at increasing the work-from-home benefits for employees (like reimbursing part or all of their home internet costs). All of your meetings might stay on Zoom, to keep your in-office employees and at-home employees in the loop together. Here's a video on some of the issues facing businesses re-opening.
But, We Still Need To Be Cautious.
We’re all in the process of re-opening, but we need to stay realistic, too. There are new variants still around, and possibly becoming more prevalent, which means that some of our public hygiene practices need to be kept up. Businesses might also want to keep Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and cleaning supplies on hand for the foreseeable future, too, like masks, gloves, tissues, and sanitizer spray. Everyone needs to be extra-vigilant about not coming to work sick, and keeping their stress levels down so they don’t become susceptible to a virus.
